Parish Pastoral Team

My Dear Parishioners:

In the gospel of Luke, we will find there a passage where Jesus is explaining to us a profound parable known as the Good Samaritan. In that parable Jesus began responding to a question made by a lawyer about his duties as a faithful person.  This is his question: ‘what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ Jesus responds to him asking, “what is in the law”?  And the Lawyer said: ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.’” And Jesus said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live”. ‘And who is my neighbour?’

There is not a better gospel than this to explain and introduce to you the Pastoral Parish Team. Pastoral care is an integral part of living the implications of the Christian faith. It is a responsibility and a privilege of all the baptized, not only a chosen few, and should be freely offered to those with whom we come into contact. Pastoral care in this sense is about listening, supporting, encouraging and befriending.

The members of our Pastoral Parish Team share a common vision – that, one day, all members of our parish will feel a personal connection as a family; that our church functions as one big family; that everyone here at St. Lawrence Parish feels the love and support of family, even if theirs is far away. We can ALL be part of a caring community, where everybody feels welcome, because where faith builds community, nobody is a stranger.

With this reflection, I am so happy to introduce you to our Pastoral Parish Team who are happy to serve the Lord and to assist parishioners at Saint Lawrence Parish The Martyr.
