The 2019 Mission Co-Operative Plan Collection this Sunday, July 28th

Published / by St. Lawrence Hamilton

The mandate of the Mission Co-operative Program is to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ in developing countries by:

  • Providing food, clean water, clothing, medical/dental care and supplies, tuition, school supplies, literacy training to those in need
  • Supporting the on-going formation of missionaries in the evangelization of the Word of God
  • Supporting the work of catechists
  • Educating the parishes of the Diocese of Hamilton about the work of missionaries and missionary groups

Each year, Missionary Organizations are invited to participate in the program and those that are chosen are invited to speak in parishes in the Diocese of Hamilton to share the work they are doing in different parts of the world. This Sunday the Missionaries of the Poor from Kingston Jamaica will be joining us in our parish to tell us about the good works they are doing in Jamaica and to receive our support.

If you have a box of church envelopes, please look in the back of the box for the Blue “Missionary Co-op” envelope and bring it to mass on Sunday with your contribution to the Missionaries of the Poor. If you don’t have a church envelope, we will have additional envelopes at the back of the church for this special collection.

Our Guest

Sister Joanna Belmonte of the Missionaries of the Poor Sisters will be our Guest on Sunday. Sister Joanna was born in Italy, but soon moved to Toronto with her family where she grew up. She has been a nurse, and worked at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and in public health before she was called to Jamaica….but come on Sunday to hear the rest of her story and the story of the work of the Missionaries of the poor (and don’t forget your much needed monetary support)
