COVID VACCINES – Statement from the Diocese of Hamilton

Published / by St. Lawrence Hamilton

The official position of the Catholic Church is that all available COVID vaccines are ethical and all Catholics who are able are encouraged to receive the vaccine. All employees serving in the Diocese of Hamilton are encouraged to be fully vaccinated or to submit to a COVID rapid test every Monday and Thursday in order to carry out their responsibilities. Volunteer liturgical ministers are required to be fully vaccinated. Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, encourages every member of the Catholic Church within our Diocese of Hamilton to be fully vaccinated.

Giving Tuesday

Published / by St. Lawrence Hamilton

Greetings! Normally by this time of year we would have already had our Nibbles and Bids and we’d be looking forward to the Turkey roll on the weekend. These two fundraisers, and a few others in our hall along with the weekly contributions from parishioners help to keep St. Lawrence thriving each year. But with health restrictions, we haven’t been able to run events in our hall and it’s left us missing everyone that we usually see at all those events and unfortunately with a pretty big fundraising hole. So we would invite you, if you are able, to consider supporting the church through an online donation to St. Lawrence Parish today on Giving Tuesday. You can make a donation by clicking the button below which will take you to our donation page (through Canada Helps, our online donations partner) Make a #GivingTuesday donation of $20 or more on Giving Tuesday and we’ll get an extra $2 from CanadaHelps!

Funds go to the various ministries in our parish and maintaining the church which has been a part of our community since 1890. We thank you for your generosity!

50/50 draw

You can also support the parish by purchasing tickets for our Christmas 50/50 draw (licence no. M846931) – Tickets are $5 or 3 for $10. To purchase tickets, call or email the parish office (we do curbside pickup ! ) or talk to Joe, Alissa, Andy, Helen, Maureen, Jean or Keith 😉

Draw to be held at St. Lawrence on December 20th at 12:30 p.m.

And until we can do it again….here’s a reminder of some of the fun we’ll have next year when we can gather again!!!

Saturday Evening Mass

Published / by St. Lawrence Hamilton

Since we’ve re-opened for Sunday Mass, the need to allow for social distancing has reduced seating capacity in the church significantly. As a result, on many Sundays we have unfortunately reached our seating capacity and had to turn away a few families.

In an effort to ease some of the capacity issues on Sundays we are, for the time being, offering a Sunday Vigil Mass on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m.

It is our hope that this additional Sunday Mass option will help to ease crowding on Sunday and ensure that everyone wants to, has the ability to attend Mass at St. Lawrence.
